Announcing CommonBound 2018 Workshop Tracks & Network Gatherings

Posted on 4/5/18

A few weeks back, we announced registration for our biennial conference CommonBound, happening June 22-24 in St.Louis, Missouri. CommonBound is a conference designed by and for the new economy movement, so we’re inviting our members and fellow activists from across the U.S. and Canada to fill the program with the conversations our flawed economy—and the people determined to build a new one—need most.

We’re thrilled to announce that our full list of Workshop Tracks and Network Gatherings are now available, along with applications to submit individual workshops, due April 13.

Workshop tracks promise to touch on some of the most pressing issues facing us today, and present paths toward a fairer and more democratic society.  Here are just a few of the topics they’ll take on:

  • Unpacking the historical and present day realities of our food system, and the movement for community control

  • Challenging the arts economy and solutions for artists and journalists

  • Bottom-up approaches to addressing the climate crisis, grassroots disaster recovery, transformative climate policy, and more.

  • Building political and economic power and changing policies

  • ...and many more!

See our full list of 10 Tracks and submit your session ideas by April 13.

Workshops will range from hands-on trainings, to panels of leading community innovators, academics and researchers, to case studies from movement frontlines. We’re looking for presenters of all backgrounds and educational levels to share their stories, skills and big ideas for building an economy that puts people and planet first. Submit your workshop proposals today.

NEC’s 200+ member organizations and broad network of allies are building some of the most visionary alternatives to our current system today, pushing for policies and institutions that change the economy’s rules, and building the popular pressure to make them happen.

Now it’s your turn. Will you submit a workshop to CommonBound 2018?

See you in St. Louis!
